Happy National High 5 Day

I hate to double post on my blogs. But today is special, it's a holiday.

Let's all take a moment to celebrate a holiday that is very important for our national psyche. National high Five Day.
I think everyone knows how to celebrate this day too. Of course it's with lemonade and high fives. So get out there and celebrate! Friends, strangers, it doesn't matter, just go give out high fives!

And, Hey there Internet Friend, come on, you know you want to...

Bam. Happy Holidays.

Beer

I figured I would try to capitalize on the popularity of my last post about beer glasses. So here goes, my top 3 beer varieties everyone should try.

1. Two Hearted Ale
     Bells Brewery

A great hoppy IPA, I recommend this beer to anyone who can get their hands on it,  should try it immediately.

2. La Chouffe
   Brasserie D'Achouffe

A tasty Belgian, and of course, I do have that glass.

3. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
    Dogfish Head

Another great IPA, this one packs a punch, so if you are going to try it, don't have too many, or you'll feel it in the morning.

Beer Glasses

Let's face it. Everyone likes to drink beer. And if you say you don't like beer, i want you to adhere to the following directions.
1. Quit drinking Bud light, Miller Light, or Coors Light.
2. Review step 1 and be sure you are following the above directions.
3. Buy some decent microbrew, Dogfishead, Troegs, Yards, etc..
4. Enjoy beer for the first time.

And if you are going to drink good beer, you need something to drink it out of. And the best thing to drink it out of is a glass. Everyone has beer glasses, not to be confused with beer goggles. But my question is, how do you get your glass?

The best glasses to drink beers out of are at the bars. You can get specific brewery glasses, oftentimes in styles not available to the average consumer at say, Walmart. And the big boys, (Miller, Coors, Bud) often make glasses with sports teams logos on them. So how do you get these awesome glasses?

Simple.

Steal them.

And if you are a beer drinker, go ahead and admit it. At some time or another, you've stolen a glass or 7. We all have.

Philadelphia Union vs. Seattle Sounders

A draw. And a draw that didn't need to occur. Seattle scored the equalizer in the 91st minute. Up until stoppage time, the Union had a fairly convincing 1-nil lead, thanks to a Carlos Ruiz free kick.

Carlos Ruiz Carlos Ruiz #20 of the Philadelphia Union defends against the Los Angeles Galaxy during the Philadelphia Union v Los Angeles Galaxy Match at The Home Depot Center on April 2, 2011 in Carson, California.

His free kick from 24 yards out put the Union up 1-0 in a game that they largely controlled. Between a home crowd of over 15,000 cheering them on, and a driving rain storm soaking the region, the Union appeared to be in control.

They missed multiple chances to put up another goal, something head coach Roger Nowak was critical of. The Union attack seemed to be doing well, getting chances throughout the game. Le Toux, in particular, missed a golden opportunity to give the Union a nearly insurmountable 2 goal lead.

But all is not lost, despite the draw, the Union still remain alone in 1st place in the Eastern table.

DOOP DOOP DOOP

For those of you who don't know, the above is the battle cry of the top team in the East in the MLS standings, the Philadelphia Union:

Now I know, I know, people think MLS soccer isn't any good, and that there aren't any soccer fans in the U.S. But here in Philadelphia , we are out to prove those naysayers wrong. Playing out of PPL Park, in Chester Pa, and supported by the Sons of Ben, the Union have stormed to the top of the east behind strong goalkeeping and defense, allowing 1 goal in 4 league games.

I've been to a game already, and I plan on attending more. If you live in the Philly area, do yourself a favor, and get on down to a game. And be prepared to DOOP.

Can You Pack a Healthy Lunch?

Not according to the city of Chicago. According to the city of Chicago, you are not smart enough to pack a lunch for your child. Instead you need to let the government make your child lunch. And if you try to send your kid to school with a lunch? Confiscated.

Any thoughts?

Purses vs. Wallets

Does anybody know why women, who in all other facets of their life are generally clean, have chaotic horrible things attached to their arms called purses? Whereas men, who are generally seen as messier in every facet of their life, have wallets, which are usually clean?

I only ask this question as a person who works at a CVS/Pharmacy and sees hundreds of people a day getting rung up. And when women dig in their purse, and can never find what they are looking for, I always wonder. Is this a woman's one little indulgence? One place where she doesn't have to take care of everything and keep things in perfect order? I mean, they have so much stuff in there!

And men, we men carry just the basics in our wallets. They are usually small, clean, and neat. And we don't spend hours digging through our stuff, looking for exact change. We know right away if we have it or not.

Not really sure where I'm going with this is, it's just a random observation. But tell me, am i right? Is it really just a place a woman doesn't care about? Or is it a defense mechanism, a messy purse thereby rendering it impossible for a thief to find anything of value in the purse.

Bioshock

Can anybody really argue that Bioshock is the best game ever made? I've played quite a few video games in my time, and nothing has ever played the way Bioshock does.

The graphics are amazing, even borderline beautiful. The game builds real tension, something I think most games try to do and fail. With enemies like Big Daddys stalking through the hallways, and unseen guides trying to manipulate you as you fight through Rapture, this game delivers on every level.

So lets hear it? Best game ever? Or over rated?

Let me know in the comments.

Heights

I realized today that I am quite frankly afraid of heights. It seems that this fear is directly related to my relative height as well. As a young kid, I remember racing my neighbor up the blue spruce in my side yard to see who could get higher. We could both make it up about 20 feet of tree in roughly 3 or 4 minutes. Not bad for 9 year olds.

But now, when I climb a ladder at work, I climb this:

But I feel like I'm climbing this:

I realize this is silly, but today at work, as I was trying to change a light bulb in a ceiling fixture. I started sweating, and I felt like I was about to fall. I almost dropped a fluorescent ligh(apparently a bad thing) and I managed to put in the new lightbulb.

I just wish I knew why this fear started to manifest itself recently. Ahh well, can't win em all.

Why Do I Buy this Random Shit?

So a couple of weeks ago, I bought this:

It was an impulse buy, but one of the guys I work with bought one too. We both set them up, and are now in a heated battle to see who can grow a plant faster. It sounds a lot stupider when you read than when we made the original bet.

The silly thing is, it fascinates me. I have little plants growing in my room, that will someday be able to eat most species of small bugs. And watching them grow is really an odd thing to see. I've never grown a plant from a seed before, so it strikes me as very odd that I can grow these little things, since apparently they are hard to care for.

Anyway, comment away, let me know random shit you buy.
